The Dudewife-o-meter 2.5

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

Cast: Adam Sandler, Jessica Biel, Kevin James, Dan Aykroyd
Rating: 2 out 5

Let me tell you this truth right up front. I 'aint gonna sugar coat it. It's fess-up time: The only reason I wanted to review this here queer movie 'bout Chuck and Larry doing their thing, is that there's this scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

There. I said it. And let me tell you ladies before you go slagging off the Dude what for being sexist and all: most men will put up with the predictable gay storyline and ridiculous gags about soap dropping and drape buying to see this scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

What it concerns itself mainly with is these two fire-fighters what go by the name of Chuck and Larry. I'm not sure which one is which, but one is played by the normally delightful Adam Sandler. They are gay. You know how we know they're gay? 'Cause they wanna marry each other. That's the back story that leads to this scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

Ms Biel plays the said homo couple's attorney or something who is out to protect them for being ridiculed - what with being gay and all. Anyway, she gets caught out in the rain with whichever character Adam Sandler plays, and has to take off her clothes what leads to this scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

Then, believing she's with a gay man – except, at the risk of ruining the whole story, he's not gay – she rattles on 'bout how her boobs are real and he should feel them, thus extending this scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

The scene runs from for about a minute 35 all up, making it arguably 95 seconds of the best cinema Hollywood has produced since Charlton Heston strode down from Mount Sinai with a tablet of stone under each arm. In my humble opinion, that has now been surpassed by this scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

The rest of the movie, it must be said, is rubbish. Hardly some of Sandler's finest work. I woulda thought that had Mr Happy Gilmore ventured down to his local video store, delved into the "worst movies ever made" bin and produced a copy of Strange Bedfellows starring Paul Hogan, he'd have learned a valuable lesson – people hate moves were straight guys pretend to be gay. Unless of course we don't know they're gay until the inadvertently go to the toilet standing up, much like that movie The Crying Game. Now, that sort of shock could never have happened at the end of this scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

What gets under the Dude's skin more than a parasite picked up while skinny dipping in the river just outside of Bright, is that after all the corny, puerile, Village People-style gay jokes, they try and turn on this sermon about getting along with people regardless of sexual orientation. "Gays are people too" they try to say two minutes after a two men grabbing each other's butts joke. I tell ya, the whole thing is only saved by this scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

Oh, and don't forget to check out that scene with the lovely Jessica Biel in her knickers.

Verbatim:
Alex McDonough:
"They're real you know!"

In a Word: Biel-istic
