Want to know how to commit the perfect crime? Well, get a copy of Fracture, watch, listen and learn.
This is one of the most creative movies I've seen. What it's about is the length someone will go to for the ultimate revenge, and the ultimate sacrifice someone will make for justice. It also seems to be about the all important lesson of quitting while one is ahead.
A saucy story line, along with Anthony Hopkins at he's compelling best and heartthrob Ryan Gosling showing that he's more than a pretty face, is what makes the movie so strong.
Hopkins plays Ted Crawford, a wealthy husband who's seeking revenge for his wife's adultery. Gosling is hot shot public prosecutor, Willy Beacham, who gets more than he bargains for after he's assigned the case against Crawford.
Fracture is a good old mystery flick, with more twists than a chubby checker song, and an ending that you won't see coming.
But in true review style, I must find a negative (the boss makes us do it). The only problem with Fracture is the fact that once the twists start to unfold, Gregory Hoblit races through them, not giving the viewer nearly enough time to digest and revel in their own detective work.
That and the fact there are not enough shots of Ryan Gosling without a shirt on!
Verbatim: Ted Crawford: My dick has evidence. Judge Robinson: Excuse me? Ted Crawford: My dick… my private investigator… I call him dick. My dick is good.
